At about 09:30 on 18 February 1978 a collision occurred between the vessels Anna Bibolini and Maritime Harmony in the river Scheldt in a position more than a mile downriver of Zandvlietsluis. Visibility had been reduced by fog to a distance of about 3 to 4 cables. The tide was flood – about 1½ – 2 knots. Both vessels were single screw bulk carriers, of 27,578 grt and 19,712 grt respectively. Anna Bibolini was inward bound for Antwerp; Maritime Harmony was bound from Antwerp for Denmark.
